The Faces Behind the Pixels
The Faces Behind the Pixels
I’ve been at SiteGround ever since I can remember – more than 11 years now. I have seen it grow from a couple to almost 300 employees. I have collaborated closely with all of our departments on all kinds of projects. However, this latest one was hands-down one of the most fun and gratifying I’ve ever worked on – that’s why I wanted to tell you about it.
Around mid last year, when SiteGround was already in the swirl of the most tremendous growth we’ve ever experienced, we realized we not only needed to expand our team, but make a focused effort to attract more talented and hard-working people who share the same values, motivation and passion as us: we work hard but put people first, we take care of our team members just as well as we do of our clients and we try to have a lot of fun in the process.
We started working on a campaign to get the attention of the right kind of people and not necessarily IT professionals – we know from experience that diversity is a powerful creative force within an organization. We also wanted to show the faces behind the pixels. So instead of using models or even worse – stock images – we decided to feature different people from our Customer Care and Tech Support teams, each of them carrying the spirit of our company.
We wanted to show their unique skillset, passion and character not just in work context – some of them are also musicians, writers, passionate travellers or fashionistas. Others have started out as Customer Care reps and grown to be one of the top performers in our Tech Support team just a year after. So we got a bunch of our favorite temporary tattoos and let each of our teammates pick the ones they most associate with – from “geek” and “hard work never hurt” to “do more fun stuff” and “troublemaker”. From then on, we just had to put them in front of the camera and let them be themselves.
Here are some of the previews of the final results, which I think say a lot about how much fun we had working on the campaign. The images will go on billboards and prints in the cities we’re hiring in (and of course are already set as profile pictures on the social media profiles of “the stars” of the campaign). Hope you enjoy them and if you recognize some of the faces behind the names – give them a shout-out next time you speak to them.
