Magento Dynamic Caching Now Available!

Dynamic Cache for Magento

UPDATE: April 23 2018. The SuperCacher service does not support Varnish anymore. We use NGINX on all our platforms.

UPDATE: June 25 2015. The SuperCacher service for Magento is now available only on our Cloud Hosting and Dedicated plans.

If your site cannot handle all your visitors or is too slow to display your goods & services, it would matter very little how much effort you put in creating a beautiful storefront and comfortable customer experience. We know that many Magento users have to go for expensive hosting solutions in order to avoid possible performance issues. Not with SiteGround. We are happy to have significantly increased the number of people successfully using and growing their Magento websites on a shared hosting platform with the help of our newest addition to the SuperCacher – the Varnish-based dynamic cache option for Magento stores.

Varnish Caching for all!

When we first launched the dynamic Varnish-based caching, it was available only for users running their websites on WordPress and Joomla. We have seen such impressive performance improvements that it was only logical to start working on a Magento implementation, as this is the third most popular application used by our customers. Some of you may have already seen and used the new option in the SuperCacher interface, as it has been in testing mode for the last few months. As of today it is now officially available for all customers on GrowBig and GoGeek plans, using the popular e-commerce CMS Magento. It is located in the SuperCacher interface in your cPanel and it works by storing a copy of your dynamically-generated content in the RAM of the server, thus greatly speeding up the overall performance and reliability of your site. You can learn more about the basics and how to enable this solution in our Dynamic Cache Tutorial.

This new Magento specific option comes in just a few weeks after we made the basic static caching (also based on Varnish), which creates a copy of all static content such as html files, Javascripts, and images, available to all our customers irrespective of their plan.

Magento Caching Plugin With a Twist

In order to make the dynamic cache available to our Magento users, we have developed a special plugin, which should be downloaded and installed on your Magento as part of the caching activation. You can refer to our step-by-step tutorial on how to install SuperCacher on Magento and switch on the cache. We highly recommend that you i) make a backup of your site before you activate the dynamic cache option; and ii) examine carefully all sections of your shop after you have the cache running in order to make sure it all works fine.

If you do not feel confident enough to perform the installation and setup on your own or if you notice any issues or unexpected behavior, do not hesitate to get in touch with our Magento experts on live chat or ticket – as always they would be glad to help you.
